ABSTRACT
Ecoterrorism is violence that aims to intimidate or coerce to achieve environmental goals. This chapter examines whether ecoterrorism must target innocents, includes acts that only destroy property (ecotage), can be performed by governments, and is ever morally justified. Are the more extreme activities of Earth First!, the Earth Liberation Front, the Sea Shepard Conservation Society, and the Animal Liberation Front terrorism and can they be justified?
