ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the results of Norwegian-Russian cooperation on oil and gas education. It describes the international and national frameworks in which this education cooperation has evolved. There are many examples of Norwegian and Russian higher education institutions that started active cooperation at the beginning of the 1990s. Norway and Russia have traditionally had different education systems. The chapter gives a brief overview of the major differences between those in terms of regulatory structure of education practices and education programs. It also describes how the education systems changed when the Bologna declaration was ratified in Norway and Russia. The chapter aims to discuss the cooperative experience between four universities in Norway and Russia that developed joint education programs in energy management and petroleum technology. The program is tailor-made for the needs of Rosneft when it comes to managing in the international oil and gas environment.
