ABSTRACT

India is now sensing the opportunity to realize its great ambitions. Indian diplomacy has set itself the goal of securing a 'regional power' position in Asia and Eurasia and becoming a 'global power' beyond the subcontinent. It is quite logical that India has strengthened its economic diplomacy to draw more investment from the West, and to stimulate trade by concluding free trade agreements with major and emerging powers. India has established 'strategic partnerships' with the US, China, and Russia since the new century. The relationship between India and China has undergone great changes that might be said to be more drastic than those between India and the US. The relationship with Russia or Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) has not undergone great changes since the Cold War as compared to those with the US and China. India has developed 'omni directional strategic partnership' diplomacy to establish and strengthen relationships with every power including the US, China, and Russia.
