ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we describe how digital storytelling was used as a research method for collecting data and producing outcomes to improve understanding of health and wellness from an anthropological perspective. We present a case study on the creation of a digital story about schizophrenia and discuss how video- making presents opportunities for therapeutic change. Consistent with digital storytelling as a co-creative process, we advocate for co-authorship between researchers and individuals who participate in research projects to advance knowledge of culture, imagery, and mental health.
