ABSTRACT

The understanding of multiculturalism in Malaysia has changed perceptibly with the 2013 general elections when the opposition won the popular vote, campaigning on a pro-people and anti-racialist platform, emphasizing transparency and government accountability, the end of corruption and better management of the national economy. The Barisan Nasional (National Front), which has been in power for 56 years, won by a simple parliamentary majority (133 to 89 seats) and performed its worst in history.
