ABSTRACT
The world’s population, currently around 7.3 billion, is expected to exceed 8.3 billion by 2030 and rise to 9.3 billion by 2050. Almost all of this growth will be in urban areas; the world’s urban population is expected to grow by a billion between now and 2030, while its rural population will begin to decline.1
