ABSTRACT
This chapter introduces the most commonly used assessment procedures. They fall into two groups: observations of behaviour and interviews designed to elicit information about internal working models or dispositional representations of attachment. The Strange Situation procedure (SSP) is an example of the former, while narrative story stems with children and the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) represent the latter group.
