Explain some important theories and influences on the development of babies during the first year of life.

Understand the enormous changes that take place during that time and the adult role in supporting the baby through them.

Recognise the vital importance of building a relationship with the family and other carers of the baby.

Understand how to engage with babies in order to meet their needs and interests and enable them to develop their learning through play.

Try different methods of recording this development.
