ABSTRACT
I probably heard some variation on that statement dozens of times during the semester Caitlin took my video news production course. I frequently responded that video skills were also important for newspaper reporters in the Internet age. I sometimes uttered a warning to the effect of, “Well, you never know what the future holds.” I saw Caitlin after that semester and I was happy to hear she attained the managing editor position at our university’s student paper. I was confident she would do well after graduation. Later, I found out I was right about that: She landed a full-time journalism job at a reputable news organization right out of college.
