ABSTRACT
Within the context of the critical need to protect and manage global water resources in a manner that preserves water quality, quantity, and flow for future generations, this chapter explores the state of traditional knowledge in northern Canada. It then considers in some detail the challenges associated with use and application of traditional knowledge, and the opportunities for its enhanced use and application to inform environmental management and decision-making in the north generally, and water management specifically.
