ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the organisational setup of Danish building and housing research. It quantifies the Danish public and private building/ housing research and development (R&D) investments. First, building/housing R&D activities are spread over many different actors, but most of the activities are concentrated on five core research and educational institutions with building/housing research as their primary activity. The Government established a new task force with a dedicated focus on building research to develop proposals for an action plan for Danish public building/housing research. The Task Force on Building Research published a research roadmap for building-related R&D in 2002. R&D expenditure in private companies is divided into the four main business sectors covered by the resource area building/housing: primary industry, manufacturing industry, support industry and service industry. The funding of R&D for private companies within the resource area building/housing is distributed through different sources of financing.
