ABSTRACT

This chapter highlights the development of player tracking, by capturing event data and player movement. It talks about computerised notation systems of soccer in research. The sport soccer has received the most attention with regard to video-based time-motion analysis. The results of the study suggests the automated system is a valid real-time motion analysis system for tracking player movements. Finding significant differences between various time-motion analysis systems with regard to the output produces the distances covers various speeds. Global positioning systems (GPS) unit contains a number of components including the satellite receiver, accelerometer, magnetometer, gyroscope and a battery. The validity and reliability findings of GPS has studies different sampling frequencies. The collection of the independent publications from the literature contains the selection of some of the research. The automated 3D system is not currently commercially available to the soccer market therefore the amount of information that is currently analysed in real-time within clubs.
