It reviews the type of information portrayed in the various forms of media and discusses the extent to which they achieve their aim of describing the events of the sports. The techniques for performance analysis illustrated are related to the sports that receive more media coverage. The chapter presents the medias portrayal of performance analysis in three different sections: invasion; net and wall; and striking and fielding sports. The game which has mass media coverage are soccer, rugby union, basketball, cricket, and golf. Television companies and newspapers tends to use statistics to illustrate a point so the sports teams prefer to utilise their own performance analysts rather than rely on statistics published in the media. The media provides variable quality performance analysis, and adds enjoyment to the sports fans.
