ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to offer much information about notation systems and writtens in the form of a literature review. A research journal for performance analysis, many biomechanists are not using the journals, so it is principally concerned with notational analysis. The sport-specific notation systems (hand notation) explored the combinations of players batting, pitching and fielding and the probabilities of success. The users of analysis systems utilise the visual presentation of the feedback of the action. Four major purposes of notation have been delineated are analysis of movement, tactical evaluation, technical evaluation, and statistical compilation. Many of the traditional systems outlined are concerned with the statistical analysis of events which previously are recorded by hand. There were three main components to the research: to develop a notation and analysis system; to record performance; and to investigate the prescience of performance patterns that would distinguish winners from losers.
