The Sunshine Policy

The Korean Peninsula is the last reminder of the Cold War division and one of the only places that bears a high risk of potential regional conflict, especially if North Korea’s provocations are not contained and prevented by the regional players or a misunderstanding by one of the regional states leads the region to an unintended war. North Korea’s three nuclear tests, its nuclear proliferation, missile tests and the military provocations throughout the years present a Cold War arena. ¹
