ABSTRACT

Course Format: This flipped-format course met only once a week for 75 minutes over the course of a 16-week semester. Face-to-face class time was structured such that students could actively engage with the course concepts on a deeper level through demonstrations and discussions. The reduced face-to-face class time allowed students more outside-of-class time to devote to watching short, informative lecture videos and to complete online activities that reinforced the learning that occurred during the weekly face-to-face meeting. The course format included a flipped component (e.g., more active learning than lecturing) and a hybrid component (e.g., lectures and assignments were completed online).
