ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the conclusion of Principal Nahums meeting with the school district leadership team in February. It also demonstrates that the principal is committed to, and capable of, providing the aggressive instructional leadership needed at Plum to improve student academic achievement. Principal Nahum will need to reprioritize his strategy to address his buildings needs by focusing on building teacher capacity via teacher action plans. During these meetings, the principal should be clear that the plans are in effect until June and the purpose of the plans is to assist the teachers in developing best practices to help their students to improve academically. In June, Principal Nahum and the AP should meet with the teachers to discuss their overall progress during the last four months of school. Principal Nahum should task his AP with developing and facilitating rigorous Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to address identified deficient instructional areas.
