ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to give the reader an understanding of the principles and various approaches that health care researchers have used for developing and utilizing measures of self report. In particular, I will describe several uses of these types of measures by reporting on actual examples of self report measures that have been used by investigators in recent years. These examples will illustrate the principles, approaches and uses.
