ABSTRACT
The multiple murder tragedy at The University of Iowa on November 1, 1991, caused a major crisis. This article describes the tragedy, the psychological response, and unplanned consequences from a public and a private perspective. As a result of this experience, the author offers practical suggestions for emergency preparedness and implementing a responsive campus culture.
