ABSTRACT

It still happens. I’m sitting at a coalition meeting one night and the topic of discussion is queer invisibility. One of my sisters raises her hand and says, “Gays and lesbians are sick and tired of being ignored, overlooked, not included.” I’m leafing through my favorite ’zine, reading the editorial (by the bisexual editor) about Coming Out Day, when “gay and lesbian people are supposed to come out to someone they haven’t yet.” Gay and lesbian this, lesbian and gay that. Every time I hear it, it’s a slap in my queer face.
