ABSTRACT

A greater percentage of librarians are approaching retirement age than the general working population, and there is particular concern that specific expertise such as that needed to work with serials will be lost. So there is a great need to attract new professionals and for a better understanding of serials issues throughout the profession. Lamoureux offered a number of practical suggestions current serials professionals can follow to cultivate the next generation of serialists. Among the ideas explored were internships, mentoring, guest lectures, and networking. [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-HAWORTH.
