ABSTRACT

SUMMARY. My development as an ecologically-oriented community psychologist was shaped by many ecologies, including my family's religious faith, the civil rights, anti-war, and feminist movements, and the diverse cultures I have been privileged to experience. Harvard's Social Relations department and Michigan's programs in Social and Community Psychology provided intellectual underpinnings for an ecological viewpoint. New York University's program in Community Psychology and New York itself have allowed a variety of exciting research opportunities. Sexism has also shaped my career, and combining work and family has been sometimes a challenge, but always a joy.
