ABSTRACT

156The authors discuss the need for reasonable accommodation at clinical practicum, clerkship, and internship sites. They summarize the key types of disability legislation and data on general compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. They discuss accommodation needs in the classroom and the clinic, focusing on time, space, and procedural accommodations; accommodations in test administration procedures; and accommodations for mental illness and substance abuse. They end with a plea for APA-accredited half-time internships to permit equal access for women with fatigue-related disabilities that involve the need for regular rest and a reduced schedule.
