ABSTRACT

This article presents a series of vignettes demonstrating ways in which clients and therapist can co-create rituals as an integral part of a strength based psychotherapy process. These rituals are offered to clients to provide continuity, bolster ego strength and stability in some instances. In other circumstances deeper meaning, closeness and connection with others often results from sharing ceremonial events. Clients individually, in couples and/or in families, childless or with children, can learn empowering ways to support the clinical issues they are working on while learning to honor the sacred in themselves and others.
