ABSTRACT

Highlighting three themes from the Kabbalah, this essay explores how psychotherapy can be enhanced through the integration of spiritual teachings and practices. Beginning with an exploration of repentance in the Jewish mystical tradition, the author examines the positive effects of spiritual awakening on identity formation and psychological development. Focusing on the Kabbalah’s myths of the cosmology and messianic redemption, the author shows how these mystical motifs serve as therapeutic paradigms for growth, healing and renewal.
