ABSTRACT

Studying people processing settings might elucidate ways by which hegemonic groups define images and knowledge about people in care and thus construct their own and others’ social identities. Since 1934 many kibbutzim have accommodated groups of adolescents for a period of 2 to 6 years of education within their communities (“Kibbutz Youth Groups”). These groups consisted of immigrant or socially disadvantaged adolescents and were organized and supervised by public agencies, especially Youth Aliyah.
