ABSTRACT

In 1994, the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), through its Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS) Program, funded 27 innovative models of HIV care. The Knowledge Base on Innovative Models of HIV/AIDS Care presents literally thousands of pooled results from the Cooperative Agreement Projects and provides a method of rapid and wide information dissemination from this initiative via the Internet. The Knowledge Base not only summarizes data from these projects in a highly accessible format, but also provides links to data collection forms and evaluation methods used to generate the information. The Community-Based Organizations (CBO) projects share as a central theme the goal of providing high-quality care for individuals with HIV who belong to groups that are traditionally underserved because of linguistic, cultural, racial, and economic barriers that prevent their full integration into the traditional hospital-based service system.
