ABSTRACT

The extensive list of music journals published in the last century reflects the many facets of music as a discipline. Acta Musicologia became a semiannual publication in 1972. Archiv fur Musikwissenschaft (AMw) has been one of the most significant musicology journals since its inception in 1918. Nineteenth-century music continued to be avoided and ethnomusicology excluded, but articles on twentieth-century music appeared occasionally. A moderate amount of advertisements for musicology-related publications is included. Advertisements for musicology-related publications are included. World of Music is published three times a year, and most issues have a theme. The journal's mission is to publish music education research and to serve as a forum for sharing ideas, research techniques, and methodologies and for raising the standards of music education research. Articles in music therapy journals include documentation of the clinical research and practical applications of music used to positively affect psychological and cognitive functioning and mental and physical health.
