ABSTRACT

We are only at the very beginning stages of the transition from a scholarly communication system based primarily in print to one that is primarily digital. Those of us involved in scholarly communication, whether as librarians, publishers or other participants, have an opportunity to shape that transition and have a significant impact on how the new system evolves. Doing this effectively will require thinking creatively about our changing roles and being willing to adopt new relationships and to abandon past practices that are no longer relevant. doi:10.1300/J123v52n01_08 [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: I–8OO–HAWORTH.
