ABSTRACT

In recent years, the open access movement has been gaining ground in the world of scholarly communication. One of the main avenues that open access utilizes is journals wherein access to articles is absolutely free. We examine practical issues related to including open access journals in an academic library’s online catalog. Some of these include the possible alleviation of budget constraints, providing more robust holdings, difficulties of maintaining titles, and indexing for access. doi: 10.1300/J123v52n01_11 [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-HAWORTH, E-mail address: <docdelivery@haworthpress.com> Website: <https://www.HaworthPress.com>]
