ABSTRACT

The expansion of Open Access (OA) publishing will require some new collection development decisions. This presentation outlined the strengths and weaknesses of the different OA models, and presented several methods for libraries to discover OA titles. The presentation also highlighted the many decisions libraries must face when adding open access titles to their electronic collections, and reviewed the traditional criteria used to determine the viability of journals. These criteria can also be applied to open access titles as libraries are selecting which OA titles to add. doi:10.1300/J123v52n03_13 [Article copies available for a fee from The Haworth Document Delivery Service: 1-800-HAWORTH.
