ABSTRACT
Duncan Luce’s enduring contributions to several fields of inquiry have helped define their present configurations and will continue to challenge other researchers to explore new directions. My own work on decision theory and related areas illustrates the point. Duncan’s influence on that work since the early 1960s has manifested itself in ways both obvious and subtle. It is a pleasure to recount a few of my personal and intellectual debts to a good friend and master craftsman.
