ABSTRACT

A definition of terms: Terror is not necessarily synonymous with anxiety. Moreover, when referring to terrorized individuals, it is best that they not be confused with patients who simply anticipate the worst because of avoidable inefficiencies in given responsibilities. Terror is distinct. It is suggestive of living close to the abyss—an abyss characterized by primal chaos. Included are people who daily fear nuclear holocaust yet are fearful of getting involved in work aimed at ameliorating such threats. These are people who live in the wake of a dubious future with little notion of how to galvanize the necessary resources to cope with the deadly prospects of such a future.
