ABSTRACT

James F Masterson, M.D. (Jefferson Medical School, 1951) is Director of the Masterson Group and the Masterson Institute. He pioneered the developmental, object relations approach to the psychotherapy of the Personality Disorders. Dr. Masterson is a Fellow of the American College of Psychoanalysts, the American College of Psychiatrists, and the American Psychiatric Association. He is on the editorial board of numerous journals and is the author of nine books and the editor of five. Among his honors, he received the Schonfeld Award for Outstanding Achievement from the American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry. He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Masterson is one of the most influential practitioners and teachers of contemporary psychoanalytic approaches.
