ABSTRACT

Albert Ellis is the President of the Institute for Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in New York. He has practiced psychotherapy, marriage and family counseling, and sex therapy for more than 45 years. Dr. Ellis has received the Humanist of the Year Award from the American Humanist Association; the Distinguished Professional Contribution to Knowledge Award from the American Psychological Association; and the Personal Development Award from the American Association for Counseling and Development. He has written or edited more than 50 books and monographs, and he has published more than 600 papers in psychological, psychiatric, and sociological journals and anthologies. A Fellow of six professional organizations and a Diplomate of three professional boards, he received his Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Columbia University in 1947.
