ABSTRACT

A combination of social group work and community organization strategies are proposed as the undergirding base for facilitating integration of refugees and immigrants into the American social structure. Agencies working with immigrant and refugee populations will have to focus on needs assessment methodologies that will enable them to identify clientele according to differential needs. Intervention goals should be directed concurrently toward individual, community, and societal change, so that integration into the American society is achieved for those who aspire to make a new life in a country which opens its portals to them.
