ABSTRACT

The direction of service provision for children with emotional or behavioral disorders has been to establish interagency networks. Students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD) present significant challenges to educators and community professionals in contemporary practice. Data from our state of New Hampshire also reveal an increasing number of students identified as having serious emotional disturbance. The direction of service provision for children with emotional or behavioral disorders has been to establish interagency networks. Agencies that provide services to students with emotional or behavioral disorders and their families have typically lacked the history or mechanisms to work in a coordinated fashion. Assessment of school staff’s knowledge and skills for working with students having EBD was done by using the Emotional or Behavioral Disorders Teacher Competency Survey. The parents continue to use the group process to solidify their relationships and have become verbally and emotionally more open with each other and with the facilitator.
