ABSTRACT

This chapter presents a radiation model, which was developed specifically for Israel. Radiation parameters in Israel have been analysed in various studies. The calculation of the turbidity factor according to Linke is based on the Bouguer-Lambert extinction law. Linke’s turbidity factors were calculated for the subsequent calculation of radiation parameters in Israel. A relationship between height sea level and the deviation of the turbidity factors from the reference stations can be determined. It may not be ignored that the difference in altitude is only one of the determining factors for the turbidity coefficients. Diffuse radiation is the portion of solar radiation which arrives on the surface of the earth after single or repeated dispersion in the atmosphere. Due to the smaller absolute intensity of diffuse radiation, the deviations that occur for its calculation are less important in their effect on the results, than in the case of direct radiation.
