ABSTRACT

This chapter explores by examining relationships within the social learning ecosystem, a system in which learning is fostered as a product of the various relationships among stakeholders and learning environments. It also examines past unsuccessful attempts to utilize technology and media in learning systems. The chapter suggests the roles the primary stakeholder relationships play in the social learning ecosystem, as well as briefly provide context for the secondary relationships. The educators, especially those working with college populations, have adopted even more technology and media into their classrooms by including online course management systems (CMS) into learning experiences. All stakeholders in the social learning ecosystem are beginning to embrace integrating technology and media to create more customized and student-centric learning experiences in formal and informal learning environments. However, as new technologies and media develop, the potential for educational applications require the educational system to be constantly adapting and changing.
