ABSTRACT

This chapter reveals the fuller story of what preceded and followed in relational communication perspective moment. The relational communication perspective incorporates the models of human development, integral theory, social identity, transformative learning, the Coordinated Management of Meaning (CMM) and Positive Organizational Scholarship. The Good Health Network (GHN) prides itself on developing its own internal change agents (CEs). The CEs have focused on building strategic capacity, aligning the organization's internal resources, and strengthening working alliances across other support functions. The strategic planning effort introduced discursive processes that fostered a culture of curiosity and generativity. In keeping with GHN's approach to continual learning and development, our role as external consultants was to support and coach the internal resources, enabling them to take the lead in incorporating the principles of Appreciative Inquiry with the work of the organization. Story sharing has been found to foster transformative learning in the engagement of social identity groups in dialogue.
