ABSTRACT

In this chapter I explore the relationships between international cooperation agencies and civil society organizations as important channels for the flows of development and governance models on a global scale. By focusing on specific interventions, I discuss how, over the last decades, these processes have contributed to the expansion of global capitalism, despite the emergence of counter-hegemonic and anti-systemic movements. The in-depth analysis of the relationships between these strategic social and political actors and processes can contribute to a greater understanding of the limits and challenges confronting the articulation of democracy and citizenship in contemporary global scenarios.
