ABSTRACT

This chapter explains that how moments mediated by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer (LGBTQ)-themed texts add up to the lives of queer and ally youth together. Pink TIGers brought queer and ally students, typically from their Gay Straight Alliances, to the local center for LGBTQ youth to select, read, and discuss LGBTQ-themed books that able to purchase for the students. The chapter explains Liz's processes of be(com)ing gay and lesbian at both larger and smaller timescales, but these three is the focal timescales. Within these timescales, that observed Liz becoming gay and lesbian overtly, but then also more subtly as she explored her relationships with homophobia, with allies, and with the heterosexual matrix. Melissa associations with and empathy for LGBTQQ people and characters fostered her identity as an ally. The chapter appreciates how heterochrony provides a concrete way of examining time that is not confined by the linear, that challenges to think beyond the linear, that provokes complex analyses.
