ABSTRACT

Evaluation is the fourth component of a spiritually sensitive practice approach. Evaluation tools can assist in addressing several issues, including determining the extent to which an agency is providing spiritually sensitive services. Most importantly, evaluation tools can determine the impact of spiritually sensitive programs and practice on the clients it serves. Evaluation can focus on either a program or a practice intervention. It could involve the client answering questions or it could be a behavioral measure of a client's progress over time. Qualitative evaluation tools are primarily needed to measure these types of concepts. Canda and Furman offer a spiritually based perspective on evaluation. First, evaluations are needed to determine how prepared agencies are in providing a spiritually sensitive approach. Second, determines what practitioner competencies are needed for delivering a spiritually sensitive approach. Third, evaluations are important in determining the impact that a spirituality-sensitive approach has on clients.
