ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on moral and ethical issues that can come into play in spiritually sensitive practice. It also focuses on morality and ethics. Religious and spiritual groups are major sources for our ethics and morality in today's world. Mahatma Gandhi, a leading Hindu religious leader who led the liberation of India from colonization, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, a Baptist pastor in the South who led efforts to obtain basic rights to voting, housing, education, and employment for African Americans, succeeded by using an ethical strategy. Healing words are easier to express to people with whom we are in good standing, especially when things are going well in our relationships. Religious freedom and the freedom to choose one's own religious group are still cherished by many Americans today. Yet, in significant contrast, growing numbers are expressing the view that our nation is a Christian nation.
