While I was a graduate student, unexpected Postclassic-period finds at Baking Pot, Belize, sparked my interest in ceramics, and since then most of my research has been about Maya pottery. In this chapter I discuss some current debates and approaches in Maya pottery analysis with reference to the work of E. Wyllys Andrews V. I conclude with a discussion of the rarely used concept of the ceramic system in reference to the Terminal Classic and Postclassic pottery of Lamanai, Belize.
