ABSTRACT

It is vitally important to carefully select those persons who will

serve as team leaders. Do not assume that the training and educa

tion a school counselor, social worker or psychologist has received

has adequately prepared him to respond appropriately to the crisis

of death. During graduate school many of these caregivers

received only a very brief introduction ('Today we will cover death

and grief') to bereavement care. The point is that those serving as

crisis team leaders should demonstrate not only interest in this area,

but the motivation to seek specialized training in grief counseling

and crisis response work.
