ABSTRACT

Good self-care is critical for at least three major reasons.

First, we owe it to ourselves and our families to lead joy

ful, whole lives. While bereavement care is certainly

rewarding, we cannot and should not expect our work to

fulfill us completely

Second, grief gardening is exhausting-physically, emo

tionally and spiritually. Assisting bereaved children in

movement toward reconciliation is a demanding inter

personal process that requires much energy and focus.
