ABSTRACT

Psychosynthesis has been, for me, a natural extension of Gestalt therapy. In most important respects the two are compatible, both theoretically and experientially. Both emphasize the individual personal experience of the client; both recognize that each person is unique and will require a unique therapeutic experience. Both are existentially based, holding that individuals are constantly confronted by choices and decisions and that they are responsible for the choices they make. Both stress the importance of an I-thou relationship between therapist and client.
