ABSTRACT
The following passage is excerpted from a Middle English translation, probably by John Purvey, of Wyclyf’s Latin tract De Officio Pastorali. This passage (Chapter 15), which is inserted by the translator in the middle of Wyclyf’s complaint against friars, has no counterpart in the original Latin.
