ABSTRACT

In contrast to my early experiences, the scope and direction of behav ioral consultation in public school settings has changed considerably. In an attempt to capture these developments I organized this publication first by having colleagues identify seminal topic areas. Important key sources in this respect also were reviewed (Kratochwill & Stoiber,

2000; Stoiber & Kratochwill, 2000; Ysseldyke, Dawson, Lehr et al., 1997). Next, based on their expertise and active roles as clinicians, edu cators, and researchers, selected authors were invited to write about specific areas. The stipulation was that they present salient issues, sum marize key points, discuss impressions, and offer recommendations to improve professional service delivery. A prerequisite in preparing manuscripts is that the authors focus discourse on the practical (“real world”) aspects of consultation.
